    Green Door

For the 1st time in 15 years i'd canvassers at me door 2 nite. it's not that i'm outside a town - i'm bang slap in the middle of one.
The Greens were privilaged to be the 1st.
Pity i wasn't there at the time (wifey was). If only I was there, just to let them think of another idelology, that it's probably mother nature (the sun) is actually causing the 'climatic change'. (can you imagine their faces - & then them trying to convert me).....after listening to them rabbit on for 1/2 i'd think i'd close the door politely after wishing them well, laugh me head off & them watch 2 episodes of Fr. Ted

Yes, you're clearly a fan of Channel 4 programmes.

We pump millions of years worth of sequestered carbon into the atmosphere, every year, for a hundred and fifty odd years, and there are still people who believe that it it isn't having an effect?

    Lets deal with the facts:

    - Carbon Dioxide is a Greenhouse Gas (it stops the Sun's energy being reflected back into space and traps it in the Earth's atmosphere)

    - Every tonne of oil we burn releases 3 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide.

    - Every day we burn 82 million barrels of oil (11.4 million tonnes of oil)

    - that is just Oil! Natural Gas, Coal, Peat, Etc. are not included

    - Up until about 150 years ago we only used to burn wood - which was carbon sequestered in the previous 50+ years. Oil, Gas, Coal, Etc is carbon sequestered over thousands of years, millions of years ago.

The C4 programme referred to above was so off the wall that at least one of the scientists involved is taking a legal case against the producers for a) misrepresenting the approach of the programme in order to get him to participate; and b) selectively editing his commentary to make it appear like he was saying something completely opposed to what he actually believes.

While you might be disappointed that you didn't get a chance to show the Green canvassers how gullible you are, there are tens of thousands of people all over the Country who are disappointed that the Fianna Fail Candidates are too scared to actually knock on their doors and face the bollocking the people want to give them!
"Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest." Mark Twain

“When a government is dependent upon bankers for money, they and not the leaders of the government control the situation, since the hand that gives is above the hand that takes. Money has no motherland; financiers are without patriotism and without decency; their sole object is gain.” Napoléon Bonaparte

Yeah, who gives a fu ck about future generations? Live it up!

Do you have any peer reviewed scientific evidence to backup your claim that the sun is responsible for the year 2005 being the warmest year ever recorded?

Or are you just pulling this stuff out of your arse 'cos its trendy to be a bit contrary?

Please quote your evidence for claiming 2005 is the warmest year ever recorded.
Surely, if your Global Warming theory applied should 2006 not be even warmer and 2007?

It was only something NASA said, they probably don't know what they're talking about.

Not necessarily, no. Although this past winter was the warmest on record in the northern hemisphere. And the 10 warmest years on record have occurred since 1995.

Funny last winter was the worst in 10 years, here in Gran Canaria. I felt sorry for the holidaymakers who came here for winter sunshine it was fairly spasmodic and temperatures plummeted to 16 degrees on some occasions.
This year has been the best on record. We have had temperatures averaging 25 degrees right through, clear blue skies, and rain here in the south(briefly) on 2 days only since last October!.

They probably found some other Muppet who thinks he is Albert Einstein to put them straight anyway. I'm sure you would have left them devastated
