Though, I do have some hope, my 16yr niece, just finished her inter oops mean junior cert, wants to apply for "political science and history" in Trinity - there is hope for us yet, move over couglan/harney/miriam

Though a campaign to get those "non voters" off ther arses" has got to be worth a shot ?
I fear a lot of people will vote for independents next time out and that would be a shocking state of affairs.

No, have it on a weekend. No need to close schools and people can travel home to vote, while locals can pop in on their way to do their shopping etc.
    A poster of some consequence...

totally agree, had a "discussoin" about this recently and the "audience" believed it was the right way to go, we nearly fell out over it. FFS, I really don't see the role of an IND, other than propping up whatever govt is there at the time for some local issue, healy "get that feckinggg cap of yeh" rae springs to mind !

Politcal reform is needed and I am undecided who to vote for yet, but the younger generations, need to be aware that using their vote is crucial, christ by the time of the fiasco that we are in is resolved,it will be the generation of their kids/grandkids that will be effected.

How do I/We start a campaign USE YOUR VOTE.

If you don't believe that anyone's worth voting for then why should you vote at all? Perhaps one should register to vote and then not vote at all to register one's displeasure at the state of the system.

There is more to it than just "Use your Vote"(I agree it is vital getting people to vote),
But how do we get people to use their vote responsibly, we could end up with lots of independents propping up a government each with their own shopping list for their area, and if we think it is bad now it would be absolute carnage if that happened.
Then it would be up to the President to ask the parties to form a government, in the national interest, second thoughts maybe that would be a good outcome.

Puff Daddy, I believe you've already started - ie. here

I've voted in every election since I turned 18, and at the last one, I dragged my 18 yr old offspring outa bed!! Not impressed you can be sure. I've never told anyone how I voted, and I didn't tell her how she should vote either.

At this stage, though I recognise that 'representative democracy ain't perfect, but it's better than the alternatives', I now believe that a more Participative Democracy must be part of that political reform you speak of. And I beilieve that social media will play (is already playing) a major part in that progression.

    I wouldn't be so sure.
Remember the Greens are in power too and the only people delusional enough to still vote for them are probably studying Arts in University.
