"Doesn't matter" says the Labour leader

The Labour leader has decided for everyone which parties matter. The PDs don't matter as he put it in an interview. How about the Green Party, maybe Sinn Fein or the Socialist Party. Do they matter? The independants don't have a chance.

Labour have been out of government for a very long time. Do they matter? If there is a government change will he can't be Taoiseach? So does he matter? Or are the attacks on Michael McDowell of a personal nature as seen at Question Time.

It is not up to Mr.Rabbitte to tell people their opinion. This country is a democracy or is the red history of the Labour Party that makes him dictate.

I thought you'd stay off it even after Lent.

FF and FG are vying to lead the next government. Both have a roughly equal chance. It seems that no Government can be formed without Labour. The greens are likely to be needed for a non-FF govt and are talked about as a minority party.

Whichever way you look at it, the PD's will not form part of the next govt. FF will, on a good day, lose about 10 seats, PD will come back with about 4 seats, i.e. the combined govt parties having 75 seats. Even if you allow for both parties having a very good day and coming back with two seats more, then they still need 5 independents to back them.

PD's can only govern with FF; they've rules out Greens, Labour, SF, Socialists. They've also, in effect, ruled out FG by ruling out Labour. So it's FF/PD or nothin', and I'm afraid it's nothin' in this case. Pat Rabbitte isn't telling people to hold the opinion that the PD's are irrelevant, he's telling the people that the PD's are irrelevant as a result of the opinions of the people.

This Country is currently a kleptocracy. Pat Rabbitte has rightly identified that the people want change.

Let's see what the voters decide!

They might hand the Greens balance of power? Have you any idea of the effect of that on poor Mickey D's fragile psyche?

Personally I think that this could be a very good strategy for Labour and FG to pursue. Keep saying this enough, and it may become a self fulfilling prophecy, consigning the PD's to the Irish electoral dustbin.

I still want Mick to win his own seat though. Just Mick. All alone. For five years. Not even allowed into any potential technical group.

    All alone. Fuming.

Without even his mates in the Law Library to save him.

Oh God that'd be great. With a weekly rant about "Slump Coalitions" each week (despite continuing 5% growth), as Ceann Comhairle Joe Higgins orders him from the chamber for speaking out of turn - again.

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.
