could you not be a little more descriptive in your thread titles.

I think we'll have as bad a general election, as we had a bad Assembly election

<moved to Elections & changed thread title (from "SF", ffs)>
Nothing will motivate the lazy / apathetic / Americanised / west-British types to embrace their culture and the Irish language.

I tried to get any Shinner to take that as a serious bet (ie with real money), but the takers were thin on the ground, to put it mildly. They seem to be all mouth and no trousers.

Sinn Féin generally do not go around making predictions about Sinn Féin seat numbers.

Look at the Assembly elections. While the SDLP were claiming that they would take one from SF in Newry, and take one from Alliance in Strangford, and ended up with neither, Sinn Féin were quietly working away not making predictions but ended up taking Lagan Valley, South Antrim, West Tyrone, and West Belfast.

Therefore I will not make any predictions about the general election except to note that Sinn Féin is working hard on the ground to do the best Sinn Féin can.

I'm no SF member but will gladly have a 100 euro bet with you that SF will hold all 5 seats they currently have.

Time to see who's all mouth and trousers...

I'd put €150 on them taking 7 seats. I personally would not like to see that happen but i am just being realistic and if i can win a few bob off the back of them i'll be happy until 2012(at the latest)

You're the same guy who basically said SF could kiss the 5th seat in West Belfast goodbye as there was a water rates candidate running there? You were really spot on there mate!
I'll take the rest of your posts with a pinch of salt. I think all 5 SF seats will be retained with a bit of a struggle in Kerry but easily held.
And SF will take minimun 10 seats nationwide.

Indeed, oreiley1's predictions concerning the Northern elections were spectacularly awful.

He's also the guy that said that SF hadnt a hope of a seat in either Lagan Valley or South Antrim.

As I've said elsewhere, they will hold five and pick up another five - three in Dublin (DNE, DC, DNW) and two in Donegal. If they had a really good day they may win a extra seat or two in places like Waterford and Wexford.
