    Dublin North Central... no change

    Bruton ...massively increased majority
Haughey reduced majority might take to the 3rd or 4th count but powerful cumann around these parts (although he might want to lose the adolf lookalike mustache)
McGrath to scrape in after fighting a rear guard action between 2nd FG candidtae (that HBAP assures me is running) and Labour

Outside chance with excellent vote mangement of an exra FG seat but unlikely

Callely to suffer badly (bad local campaign by his son caused much sniggering although posters were allegedly much sought after by non voting adolescent girls)

of course my opinion is based on current opinion polls

Has to be either FG or FF. No other party has anything approaching a shot at the 5th seat. FG could easily come away with 3 seats here.

Not after the next election, he won't.....

I think that's a bit of damage limitation by Crowe, to be honest. The local election was a disaster for him - the whole idea of running him as a single candidate in a 6-seater including Tallaght and Greenhills was to see him triumphantly top the poll, making his return to the Dail the obvious next step. To limp home the way he did, with just 12% of the vote, has seriously damaged him as a candidate. In that respect, I wouldn't be surprised to see Cathal King as the SF candidate.

    Kildare North

Michael Fitzpatrick (FF): Even though he was McGreevy's pet, may struggle to get back with no real profile and the electorate finally waking up to the disaster that is FF in government - hopefully his seat will be taken by the excellent Cathrine Murphy Indpendent though FG could threaten here

Aine Brady(FF): Probably will get back in thanx to the hard core and the fact that she's always in the local papers saying nice things and has a nice smile

Bernard Durkin (FG): Uninspiring but should be returned given the swing to FG though a one or 2 younger upstart FG councillors from Naas could challenge

Emmet Stagg (Lab): Assuming he runs again, safe as houses

I don't like FF but I like this guy. He called around to the house when I lived in Leixlip out of the blue one day just to see how everyone was getting on. I didn't know him from Adam before then. Also he answers his emails promptly and gives straight answers. Not the answers one might want but he seems honest. If he wasn't FF he would probably get my no.2 vote

What else has she done besides smile and say nice things to the papers?

Never answers emails. I've never met him in person. I would lean towards voting FG but this guy will NOT be getting my vote

Will be getting my number1. vote.

Any word on any other candidates?

Your guess is as good as mine

PS: I'm not big into local politics so I can't really help you with your last question though I wonder myself what poor sod the Greens will put up
