His only redeeming quality is that he is a Joycean scholar. Listenuing to his debates in the Senate, he is sometimes a fool.

Poor Pastor Phelps would have a heart attack.
Think I'll view all candidates credentials before I make my decision.

fairplay, for a man of his age. Is that a bad thing somehow?

did dana not get her nomination through a petition and councel nominations.

I would certainly sign a petition to nomnate him and I'm sure that there are no shortage of Trinity alumni who would sign up too. I don't know how he would handle a role with such limited powers as the presidency. can you imagine him asking the Taoiseach who ever he may be for approval for a trip or to make a speech.

I can imagine many tundering disgrace remarks as he pisses of suscessive governments for 14 years.

I'd vote for the old Pinko. As for the fact that he was not born here,
well neither was Dev. He is without doubt 100% Irish.

That would be my suspicion. Right now he witters on in the Seanad about every issue under the sun. I doubt he'd have the discipline to keep his mouth shut for seven years.

As for those suggesting that Lab might nominate him, surely they will be looking towards Michael D?

Of course it matters what side of the road he drives on. Belief and Policies. This is the Presidency were talking about. People don't give a hoot about policies when it comes to the Presidential election. Personally, I dont think that Bertie will run, he will fall the same way as Albert Reynolds. The electorate will vote for the most cute and lovey dovey woman that comes along. She will talk of family, hope and the children and people wil love her for it.

Errr... our first president was a Protestant.

Anyway, I would certainly vote for him. He would be a breath of fresh air.
