Yeah, I'd give DN a vote ahead of any of the party hacks the others will put up.

As for Ahern, I think it is becoming increasingly unlikely that he'll run. Not even he is that big a narcissist that he can't see how despised he now is. Personally, I hope he runs and is humiliated.

David "Chuck" Norris would make a fine President.

I imagine he'd be a divisive candidate, but then again, so would Bertie. His candidacy would generate discussion, which would be a welcome change to the usual apathy the general public has towards the presidency, and politics in general.
I'd be an enthusiastic supporter of Norris, assuming no surprise candidate steps forward in the meantime.

Ah, poor Bertie. First the Mare of Dublin job gone, now he won't have a hope of being the pain in the Áras.

What are DN's vulnerabilities going to be?

The last Presidential election was dirty as hell.

Adi Roche was humiliated by the media.

Albert Reynolds was memorably shafted by Bertie and co. before McAleese was selected and in turn she was targetted as a provo sympathiser.

Ha, would be class if he won, can you imagine the cranial implosions all across the DUP/TUV backwoods of Antrim and Armagh
