He has a huge amount of support within the constituency and once selected he will hit the ground running as usual.
He's also an irregular contributor on P.ie. Still don't agree with his proposal on Fernhill though.....and neither did practically everyone else...

I don't think is was about having the brains, it was about not been picked to run within the Brennan group... I do agree with you regarding the late Seámus Brennan, he was a great politician... but that does not mean that his siblings are able for it and it shows...

You would have to admit that FG will have a very tiring campaign ahead of them when the by-election is eventually called. The electorate in DS thrived on GLee saga and no matter when the election happens they will want to talk about it to the FGers when they come a knocking. I would not underestimate the wearing affect that it would have on a campaign when the party will be eager to push the anti-government line. White is surely the odds on favourite here because even if another party pull a rabbit out of a hat the people of DS won't be codded twice. I think the best trick for FG to play might be a rejuvanted O'Donnell. She has already got credability, knows her stuff and would imo run a hell of a campaign if she got the backing of the party. She would be much better positioned than O'Leary (Jim)to tackle White in terms of media coverage too. As for Aoife Brennen I think that all of the Off-spring would be best to back off from this election as the Brennen name could get worn out and lose credability if it gets used to defeat.

No but look at the local elections held on the same day - O'leary topped the poll in Dundrum, FG had a higher vote than labour in the constituency and likewise if you look at the last GE, FG outpolled Labour.

The election will be down to where the FF transfers go and in DS I think they'll swing more to O'Leary than White who can come accross as tetchy.

Now if they had Ethne Fitzgerald.....

FYI, Maria Corrigan has huge ability and was first elected to DLRCOCO in 1999so I think you can rule out Fast Tracked..... I think if she where to run in a bye-election, and I believe that she will this time out, she will do well, even take the seat...
She hasn't a chance of taking a seat - it will be Mr. Kitt to the rescue of FF. She didn't poll very well in the last election and the polls are not in favour of FF.

Bit difficult for Kitt to run given that he is already a TD - do you expect him to hold two seats personally?
