Immigration to be an Election issue says ICI

All political parties should commit to a radical reform of the way migrants are dealt with and supported, campaigners said today.

In an election manifesto, the Immigrant Council of Ireland said a new ministerial post should be created with total control of immigration issues.

And the influential group *said reforms should also include education, research and bring greater efficiency, transparency and accountability to administration.

Denise Charlton, chief executive of the council, said immigration and integration will be key issues in the election+.

Some of what they say actually makes sense but why do they keep on excluding Irish people's rights from their Agenda?

    " - many immigrants won't have a vote.......... "

Actually many immigrants will have a vote who should not have one. There is no monitoring or checking on the self-reported registration process. No one bothers to confirm that the person who claims to be an Irish citizen, and thus entitled to vote in Leinster House elections, is indeed an Irish citizen and so entitled.

I know for a fact that in my constituency Sinn Fein has registered immigrants who are not Irish citizens, that is, registered them to vote in the General Election, not just local elections. Are they pulling this fraud in other constituencies too ?

If you know this for a fact and can provide evidence of such then I suggest you report the matter to the authorities . But some how I doubt you will, for as per usual you are bull************************ting.

Oh good heavens! I hope you've reported this to the police, and to the local authority.

I think you should contact the Gardai about this.

Perhaps we should report him for indirectly assisting in several criminal offences?

Don't single-issue groups generally claim that their issue will be a "deciding factor" in the upcoming election?

According to the SIPTU site, British citizens are entitled to vote in Dáil, European and local elections.

Perhaps Paypal will pretend he meant that SF are putting British immigrants on the register... But has he any proof?
