I bet Sinn Féin wil lose a seat or two!

I'm willing to wager that Sinn Féin will lose one or more seats in the 2007 Dáil election. I realise (before I am deluged in SF we're-going-to-win-50-seats posts) that this isin't exactly an odds-on bet, so I'm going to bet €100 with whoever will give me the best odds.

This is a serious bet, so don't offer odds if you're not willing to stand behind them. I suggest sending both stakes to a neutral party via PayPal who can pay out after the election.

For clarity, if all five of the current SF TDs retain their seats, I lose. If one or more of the current SF TDs do not get re-elected in the constituency they are currently in (or a successor constituency, in the event of boundary changes), then I win. Who's up for it?

I'm not up for it because I agree with you.
    They will make net gains.
I'd say they will gain 2 in Donegal and maybe 1 or 2 somewhere else, but not all their seats are safe, with most pressure on Ferris.
If there is a future, it will be Green.

    The market will decide! ;-)

Obviously most pressure will be on Ferris as he is in a 3 seater. But who else do think is under pressure?

    Only O'Caoilean is safe.

Don't get me wrong, it is quite possible they will have no losses but I wouldn't like to put my shirt on it.

I'd say SF wish the general election was a year or 2 ago. They would have done a lot better then.

If they get 7% as the latest poll says, they will be lucky to turn that into 5 or 6% of the seats, which works out as 8 to 10. I think the 2 Donegals are looking good and Dublin Central is better than evens. Where are SF's next best hopes?

How much are we betting? The only one I see in danger is O' Snodaigh.
