Teachers unions vote for industrial action

RTE have announced that the three teachers unions have voted for industrial action up to and including strike action.

    What does this mean?
Any ideas on what will really happen?
Has the focus gone of the banks since the votes were held and is attention now more on the widening deficit?

It means people with very long holidays, very short working hours, retirement on full subsidised guaranteed pensions (at 55) courtesy of private sector workers will damage the education of our children because they don't think its fair that they contribute a little more towards their generous entitlements.

Actually I think it means that teachers along with the trade union movement and others think the goverment are making a mess and have got the plan to try and get the country out of the mess wrong and want them to change it.
And for the record I dont work in the public sector.

It means they're looking out for themselves. Everyone knows that there isn't enough cash to continue as we were and now the only question is whom to sacrifice for their own sakes.

The unions(public service unions) think it should be the private sector, and the government are listening to them.

    .
I would not bet on a long strike. Most teachers are intelligent enough to know that the cupboard is bare and those who don't will find out before the start of the summer holidays.

Most overpaid, underworked and unaccountable teachers in Eurozone. I will be stocking up on rotten fruit if they strike.

I hold no brief for teachers but I suggest that you rephrase as follows: POLITICIANS with very long holidays, very short working hours, retirement on full subsidised guaranteed pensions courtesy of private sector workers have BANKRUPTED this country along with BANKERS and DEVELOPERS. Place the blame where it belongs.

Eh...no. Politicians work very long hours and are at the beck and call of the public 24/7. Teachers are unsackable, unaccountable and under worked. Screw them and their strike. Lazy bastards.
