The integrity of UCC (speaking as a UCC graduate) was dispensed with when they adopted the mealy-mouthed position of accepting harvested embryonic stem-cells from Britain for research while absolving themselves of responsibility for the actual action of harvesting them itself. It sank to a new logical and ethical low by putting forward that as a justification...

So they are no longer fighting over the statue of Queen Victoria and have something new to worry about?

Long live the new Atlantic University!

Merge NUIG, UL, UCC with sub-degree campus at the ITs on the western seaboard. And make the place in the middle with all the room for expansion the hub institution, i.e UL. Call it AU with AUC, AUL, AUG like UCLA,UCB, UCD and so on in California.
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

In fairness, having read his statement and the media coverage i think that he's upset that the two dublin universities have been in private discussions with Cowen, Lenihan etc in advance of the "objective" disbursement of €300 m of PRTLI funding

Just think what 300 million would have bought outside of Dublin.

Nah UCC should be the central hub institution, as is its the largest and most prestigous institution outside of Dublin. Merge with CIT and lots of space for potential development in its western campus.

It is older for sure, but it smells weird!
