    School Discipline.

I know there are other threads on this but wanted to know if there are any Teachers out there who work in schools ,where The National Behavior support service have offered support in terms of talks, or withdrawal classrooms? Or If there are teachers in schools where they are trying innovative approaches?

You must be joking - what national behaviour support service.

We need to learn from the IDEA in the US where each student has a statuory right to an IEP that is enforceable legally through the courts. We also need to have a better model of positive behavioural support where the pupil, teacher and parents are supported. the responses to problem behaviour need to be proactive and based on a systems approach rather than reactive and about control

There will be no legally enforceable Education plans-there is no money for that and the 2004 act on Special needs has the monetary elements suspended. I guess by the poor response that everything must be rosey in the Classroom! In a downturn surely we need to push kids harder and get rid of those preventing this?

the sad part is that much of what needs to be implemented does not have to cost that much, there is huge amiounts wasted by a lack of efficiency and by not introducing enough checks into the system.

riker - you can't expel kids at a whim if that's what you're suggesting

This could have been a good post if you had explained IDEA and IEP or included links to them.

Dont propose expelling kids at a whim. Do propose withdrawal classrooms and providing alternative schools for those who cant behave in a proper way in an ordinary class. A teachers authority comes from common law-its about time we insisted on upholding the rights of the majority who want to learn vs the minority who are just marking time and think they are the most amusing people ever born.

Can you briefly outline what they are since we have no links?
