    Re: Rate My Teacher.

I recently found a new website called "Rate My Teachers" http://ie.ratemyteachers.com/

How useful/useless is such a site? Is it just for old students to vent anger about their former teachers? Do teachers look at such sites?

    Any posts would be helpful.

It's not new, it's been around for four years.

A friend of mine used to mod it in fact.

Good site, I used it to offer constructive criticism.

Websites aren't supposed to be useful.

    Is this site useful?

    Not for the most part.

I only found it a couple of weeks ago myself. So it is new to me.

Had a look. It seems to be populated with students posting such interesting and informative, not to mention constructive comments such as "legde" et etc.

So, no, not exactly interesting or helpful.

    Re: Rate My Teacher.

Looking at the ratings for my former teachers, I found it reasonably fair . Ive seen much more vindictive, childish , personal attacks on this site .

    Re: Rate My Teacher.

A more "useful" site would be "Rate my Student" or Rate my Student's Parents". I believe this was started by a parent of a student who was exposed to the idea in the US and who was also campaigning/supporting the idea for league tables for schools, etc. I don't think it ever took off - too easy to "fix" - some teacher friends of mine got upset when they got sh1t ratings but easily converted them to good by entering ratings for themselves, i.e., unless the system is transparent in its method of measurement - it is corrupt.
    We are "they"
