Let's have a "Rate my Councillor" site or a "Rate my Nurse Site" or a "Rate my Gardaí" site or a "Rate my TD" site.....why focus this on teachers if the idea is to transparently measure a public service - they can all be "properly moderated", whatever that means.

I guess this would be similar to the "How's my driving?" signs you see on trucks and PSVs in the US. I can guess what the Department of the Taoiseach's number will be on the car: 1-800 EAT SH!T.....

No, Marist brothers. I have to say though, the teacher in question got nothing but praise because he was the quintessential teacher. The class was as regimented as a military training college (I am guessing here, having no experience or knowledge of military training colleges), you not only were made to listen, you were made to learn and learn you did. I am delighted he is getting such good comments, he was an inspiration to a lot of us and he actually cared as well. Met him in the city centre a few years ago and ended up spending 25 minutes chatting to him. A true gent and a brilliant teacher. Someone say teaching as being as much a vocation as a job.
    You go to Moyler,OD?

    Good point. Why not indeed!
I'd like a 'Rate My Tradesman' website.
I was under the impression such a thing would be impractical because of all the resultant libel lawsuits - but if so, how can Rate My TEacher exist?

    Fair point.

All these sites are complete trash!

The kind of people who are bothered to leave comments on these sites usually have a chip on their shoulder and don't leave any comments which are of any use........

absolutely , any teacher i liked or found helpful seems to be popular and those who were apathetic/useless/bad-natured seem to have their foibles exposed , i also checked friends of mine who became teachers and the feedback from their students was not far off what i would have expected
