How many FAS courses can be taken before an actual job?

I heard an acquaintance was doing another FAS course. When I asked if there were good job prospects in that field, the person who told me said that was irrelevant because the acquaintance would keep doing courses in an unending series.

I know that FAS sponsored some excellent courses in IT and other areas, but is it possible that is is empire building and taking over functions that should be done by technology colleges?

You know that FÁS have a website?
And that the website is chock full of information about FÁS?
That may be the best place to find an answer to your question.

I did an "excellent" FAS IT course and for me and 95% of my classmates it led to diddlysquat. FAS for us amounted to keeping FAS tutors in jobs, that's when they bothered showing up, the rate of absenteeism amongst them was appalling. The sausage sambos were good tho, but hardly worth the waste of a year of ones life.
The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.

One. The Training for Trainers Course......then you become a FAS Trainer

    And so the eternal circle

The number of people employed by FAS does not justify their existence.
FAS have spawned a myriad of other agencies who seem to double up on things already being done....allegedly.
These other agencies cannot exist without funding from FAS; but FAS take no responsibility for these agencies they've set up....in my opinion!

......at the end of the day....or the beginning of every day, we (the tax payer) fund FAS.

I think the government should carry out some severe pruning....root and branch....and farm out the training to private training agencies ie profit-making agencies.
The government will save millions, annually....and we'll get a better class of qualified / trained product.

If FAS had a high success ratio in filling jobs,I'm sure you would have quoted data from the website to that effect.

Typically,in government activity that isn't productive the managers focus on processes and activities rather than results and outcomes which could prove embarrasing. They publicise the activities, hoping the paucity of results is overlooked,as often happens.

All training courses need to be approved by a job facilitator if you are to receive Jobseeker's Allowance/Jobseeker's Benefit while attending them. The details can be found here. One of the criteria is that the course must clearly increase your employment prospects.

I speedread your "here" link to FAS and and quickly noticed the lack of any empirical evidence on the successes of these job training programmes in finding people jobs. Surely if they were reasonably successful programmes, FAS would be quoting the successes in order to motivate the people applying for them. This suggests to me that they are not in general successful.
