Minister Hanafin rejects appeal from the blind.

A disgraceful decision by Minister Hanafin and her Dept to ignore appeals from the parents of blind and near blind schoolchildren to change the current system of providing schoolbooks in Braille to these children. At present there is a cock-up in the process which means that many of these children only recieve their books three quaters way through the school term and because of this require the help of a classroom assistant to read back to them what is going on in their class it also means that their homework is much more of an ordeal.Responding to a Dáil question from Aengus o Snodaigh on the siuation the Minister stated that she was more than happy with the current arrangements.Equality my arze.

Another fine example of the Minister's contempt for people with disability. I think she believes this sort of think is likely get her made up to Taoiseach one day. Sadly, looking at her party, she is not wrong.

    A disgrace
How very dare you say that about Bishop Hanifin, she was once a teacher you know and so knows everything about rearing children.
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

Hanafin will never be Taoiseach. Even FF people cannot stand her. She keeps the civil servants and the teachers quiet but couldn't lead a sing song, never mind the country.

Just to let people know that this story is getting some small coverage in local media but that the Indo is planning to do an article on the scandal in the next few days.

Sometimes people use the term "nazi" to describe people who are either conservative, right-wing or pro-law. Which I usually disagree with using it for slang purposes.

But Hanafin, is pretty dom close to being a nazi.

    No she's not.
But she is ineffective, and an attention whore.
Always with the photo-ops with the smiling private school children is Mary.
