A critical analysis of scientific education

See The State of State Science Standards 2012

This critical analysis of US science education could serve as a model for analysing any country's science education up to the end of secondary school. Reports on each US state are available. Does the Irish Department of Education conduct reports of this type?

Why on earth are you not teaching pat? A genuine question as you seem obsessed with education.
Otherwise this report slates inquiry based science teaching in favour of the old style approach.
We are actively reforming our curriculum to be taught the inquiry way.
What is your opinion on that change?

I am far from sure he has a single head. His constant education threads stink of an agenda alone, throw in the constant barrage of nonsense and lies and he is either a frustrated wannabe teacher who couldn't pass Garda clearance or get the points to get into the B.Ed. or he is a collective of IBEC/sindo/other right wing hit squad writers who never meet and never research any of their smears beyond what feels good after 8 cans of Dutch Gold.

So the US government Dept of Education's research is totally wrong? Maybe a right wing conspiracy took it over? Paranoia is justified as to motivations because paranoids have only the faintest glimmer of the extent of vast right wing conspiracies!

    Flattery or irony?

Education is too important to be left to educators like you. I'm reserving judgement on the approach until I see P.ie reactions. What is your evidence that the report favours "the old style approach" and how do you define it? Nothing I read seemed to slate inquiry based teaching and I don't see how inquiry can precede learning substantial basics in each science.

Some teachers demandf total control of the classroom for fear of indiscipline and raucous behaviour,so their impulse is to suppress students' spirit of inquiry with put downs except under the most carefully controlled conditions.
