While the report could be titled “stating the bleeding obvious” as in who doesn’t know that kids who watch TV all day will underperform, I guess its useful for parents who might need to be told from on high to get their finger out.
Listening to the piece on RTE this morning, the interviewee went very quickly into talking about subsidies , while it might be useful in some cases if the parents are more interested in Man United and Jeremy Kyle, its beyond me to follow how to get the kids engaged in reading or music lessons. It’s a no brainer that kids that read at home will on average do better than kids that don’t, at the same time its essentially a free activity if taken from the library or at minimal cost if bought second hand.
