Do we need Gender quotas for Primary Teachers with 84% now female?

Do we need Gender quotas for Primary Teachers with 84% now female?

The decline in the participation rate of male teachers in the Primary school workforce coincindes with a decline of educational outcomes for boys relative to girls and a rise in feminism.

A female teacher is more likely to inspire a girl to be confident than a boy. Boys tend to develop negative attidudes to academic performance with female teachers.

The Sé Sí Report highlights how the girls are outperforming boys in our education system.

    I call b.s.

How exactly do you measure a "rise in feminism"?

Edit: It's a very long report. Where does it speak about the rise in feminism?

Probably more effort needs to be put in to recruiting male teachers. As far as I can tell, there is zero effort at the moment, so a little work should lead to a relatively big improvement. Gender quotas might be going a bit far.

The current generation were taught almost exclusively by women, so its hardly surprising that 'primary school teacher' isn't the first thought that would come into a young man's head when he thinks what to do with himself.

Well, it is true that there has been "a rise in feminism" since the foundation of the state.

While we're discussing correlations, the rise in TV and the rise in FIFA games are also positively correlated with the subjects.

Well if Gender Equality is to be introduced for Dáil elections . . .should the same occur for interview panels for primary jobs?

The fact is that most men who would like to be a teacher do not want to be primary school teachers.

There is a major problem with th educational outcome for boys compared to girls. There is a very big gender gap.

Female teachers are more likely to instill confidence in girls than boys.

I believe this linked to the rise suicide

It would be nice to think that most teachers would inspire their pupils irrespective of their gender.
Is there any specific evidence that boys with female teachers have lower educational outcomes than would be the case with male teachers?

If 84% of primary teachers were male I have little doubt that there would be calls for gender quotas.

In any case, now that gender quotas are being imposed on political parties, it becomes more difficult to argue against.

If we continue down this road whole swathes of public sector jobs will have to have gender quotas, if we are to be consistent.

Agreed. Plenty can be done to attract more men into the profession.
