I can't imagine that Richard Dawkins, being a man who thoughts are based on science and reason, would not want anyone to not read any particular book. A rationalist might say a book isn't worth reading because its provably nonsense and the theories it proposed had been debunked many times but they certainly would have no fear of anyone reading a book.

It seems even the thread title contains the seeds of irrational thinking.

I'm not a huge Dawkins fan per se, I find his manner offputting, but the thread title itself is irrational.

It has been explained. The aliens made bodies to trap our Thetans and when we die, our Thetans go to a landing statio on Venus, where the thetan is re-implanted and told lies about its past life and its next life.

Now has it been shown scientifically, you know, like evolution has?

I was surprised to see him speculate on the possibility that an advanced intelligence seeded life on earth. Because once you concede that you would have to accept that they check on their experiment from time to time and could intervene. Could they send among us one of their own in human form to to impart essential truths.

It must be also possible that the experiment has a purpose and those who reach a particular level of development may be used for another purpose while the rest are discarded.

It is at least possible that they are so advanced that they created this universe in order to carry out their experiment, if that's what it is.

They may have, must have, abilities beyond our comprehension. Their sense of time may be such that the entire effort was a few days work to them.

I think I've seen this movie before

Dawkins has admitted to the 'POSSIBILITY' of intelligent design but that can mean many ,many things. I tend towards agnosticism myself after many years of Religion teaching. Its one thing having this belief, you take out from time to time (such as in a crisis or at a christening), but another thing to have to defend it daily.

Its a leap to move from saying we could have intelligent design to saying there is a GOD. Its more likely this intelligent design arrived from say an alien than a being that has the power to create a universe.
I have read Dawkins book and I will read this book above.

Why would Richard Dawkins want anyone to NOT read a book?

    Have you read any Dawkins?

Scary stuff, tradcat - like one of the stories I used to read in Weird Tales as a kid!

I mean , what if this universe is a speck of dust lying in a petri dish in some school lab.
The dinosaurs died five minutes back in 'their' world. The grandeur that was Rome occurred about 1.5 seconds ago.

Then some kid says 'This looks a bit off; will I throw it away,Sir?' Nooooooooooooo

That's because he is. He was the economics teacher.

Surprised that Dawkins allowed himself into that trap. Confirms again that these so called intellectual heavyweights that appear on TV and write popular books are not so bright after all. The ability to self-publicise if usually their main talent.
