Former SR Technics staff still waiting for funding for courses.

The government still haven't delivered the funding they promised to DIT and DCU to set up courses for 1100 former SR Technics staff. The Tainaiste dawdled until October before applying for funding from European Commission's European Globalisation Adjustment Fund even though the staff had been let go the April before. Without acceptence as students, the former workers jobseekers benefits expire next month. These are yet more people with families suffering because of the Tainaiste's ineptitude.

I'm saddened for these people, but to be frank, I am not surprised.

If the gov had a death wish for this country, THIS IS EXACTLY HOW THEY WOULD GO ABOUT IT.

Surely some responsibility must fall at the door of the minister for education but it was the tainaistes office that dealt with this debacle.

The recent dispute with Michael O'Leary over the hangar, and now this, shows a government which does not care in the least about the people it should be governing. It really is disgusting that the lazy, rude and arrogant Mary Coughlan is content not only to have those workers lose their jobs, but to destroy any chance of them getting new ones, whether through education or employment. She doesn't give a damn. There is something peculiarly appalling about her time in cabinet.

MOL was cruel to play games with these people futures.

It lead to many false hopes and expectations of those ex staff
But to MOL is was all just a game

ASFAIK people who worked for DELL in Limerick had the same problem getting retraining money. I heard one of them suggest that they were delayed and delayed until the EU money was no longer on offer and then they were told there was no longer any money available for their retraining. Standard FF tactics I would suggest.
