    DCU, Gormley, and Paul Gogo

    The reporting here on p.ie is a great deal more responsible than the IT, and congrats

    Clearing up a few minor points; DCU's disciplinary procedure or rather “summary dismissal” procedure – has been ruled illegal at every forum to which it has been presented – the Labour court, the high and supreme courts, and the commissioner service at the EAT. Anticipating this, O'Nuallain sent the documents unread to Gormley so that the human rights issue would come into play as well as the industrial relations problem. Gormless also had the option of taking it up in a public forum – but of course, he's been trying to get into govt and stay there since

    Ferdi then visited G in march 2003 with an offer for O'Nuallain which was being hinted at in the EAT and reported by the media. O'Nuallain refused it – basically, if he agreed to get lost, Ferdi would pay his salary until O'Nuallain got a new job

    Gormley and his colleagues, particularly Gogarty have chosen to sit on much evidence of – ahem - malfeasance since students met Gogarty in 2002 and asked him to raise the issue of their bullying in the Dail, which he and 3 other Green Tds did;

    The Greens and ‘Opportunistic Hypocrisy’ ‘Watchdog’ on Higher Education in Ireland

    Gormley and Cuffe are the missing TDs; Cuffe probably because he knows he will be back to DIT soon

    IMO this is every bit as bad as O'Dea/ Sargent

    What a clever little fellow you are! For the record, O'Nuallain does not spell his name like I do - check his blog.

    Can you now deign to use your Olympian intellect on the substantive issues involved?

    'know deign'?

    You don't need olympian intellect to get that right.
    Unless it's special olympian. (I'm outrageous).

    I cannot help noting Prondzynski's personal financial links with skilsoft, already exposed in "the Phoenix" (with an amplification apparently forthcoming);

    Affairs of the Nation – DCU’s President ‘Watchdog’ on Higher Education in Ireland

    I wonder if this explains many of his (on the surface) mad decisions; he simply wanted to put money in his own pocket, at whatever cost to the Irish taxpayer

    O'Nuallain set up the first degree at DCU - the main application being software localization. It ran very well with o'N in charge, at NO cost to the taxpayer

    Prondzynski closed it down in 2003 and then invested in on-campus "research" in guess what - software localization!

    this plus his residence "An Grianan" on campus cost us a lot of moolah......and is the phoenix withdrawal due to him?

    No as it happens - and while this is conflict of interest, software localization is also used

    "

    As Goldhawk has previously noted (see The Phoenix 18/12/09), Ferdie has a huge appetite for communicating even the most minor details online, whether via Facebook, his blog or, increasingly, on Twitter. But, while his followers were recently informed, for example, that Neil Jordan had stopped to have a chat with fans and sign autographs at Montrose while Colin Farrell kept moving, there was no mention of his good news concerning the Skillsoft, a Nasdaq-quoted e- learning company (founded by Bill McCabe as SmartForce) where he sits on the board. Apart from his fees here, Von Prondzynski was also allotted substantial share options and the good news is that the company is now being taken over at a premium. The buyers are three private equity groups – Berkshire Partners, Advent International and Bain Capital – who have made a $1.1bn all-cash offer which, at $10.80 per ordinary share, represents a 26% premium above the average Skillsoft closing price over the last year and indeed, a 50% premium to the average closing price over the previous five years. Von Prondzynski was on the committee of independent directors who recommended the deal earlier this month. Happily for the DCU president, at the end of January last he held 10,000 shares, now worth $108,000, plus a further 105,000 share options which would be worth big bucks depending on how many he has cashed in. Von Prondzynski’s other interests include a large share in a castle outside Mullingar Co Westmeath – Knockdrin Castle, where the balance is held by his family’s Isle of Man vehicle, Francmine Ltd. "
