As you say though, there are numerous websites online which provide an array of academic material free of charge. SSRN is another decent example.

Either way, UCD (and I assume Trinity as well) have assured students continued access to journals and databases.
Those free databases can be very helpful though. A while ago I compiled a list of the free online legal resources that I could think of (here), maybe it would be a good idea to build a comprehensive list of free online resources generally.

No matter what you think of yourself, the moment you try to justify the murder of an innocent with idealism, no matter what that ideal might be, you take your place on the side of evil and all your claims to virtue are as naught.

Hopefully these cutbacks won't affect this guy's future research:

'Tis a poor state of affairs that we could lose our best and brightest to emigration for the sake of a few million euro.

Always been the way. The best have to emigrate while the worst become TDs.

Fact is that 6 of the 9 million euros has been put up by the HEA, but that still leaves a shortfall of 3 million. Debate is going on at the moment as to what journals etc will be dropped. It should also be noted that some of the publishers have put up their rates by up to 19 % this year. So much for the private sector dropping its prices in the new ecomomic environment.
