Will the NAMA March become a NAMA Riot?

To clarify from the onset, this is not a slur against those choosing to march against both the government and NAMA later this month. Those marching are perfectly within their rights to do so, and I applaud them for exercising their democratic voice accordingly.

With that respectful disclaimer, I pose the following question:

With the huge amount of disquiet amongst the Irish people, and a disparate collection of voices harbouring this disquiet, there is a possibility that a number of apolitical trouble makers will attempt to usurp the peaceful demonstration, and use it as an excuse to run wild. Anarchist groups, left/right wing demonstrators, local thugs out for trouble - such a hijacking of events is not unprecedented in Irish history.

Would you feel this is a real possibility?

Please note that this is not a thread about the concept of NAMA itself - I would ask posters to keep their views on the subject seperate, and isolated to the relevant threads.

    Probably not. This is Ireland.

The demonstrators will shout a few slogans which FF will ignore. Then everyone at the demo will go home for dinner.

    Sad but true.

While I think that a sizeable % of the populace, would feel that smashing up the Dept. of Finance would be justifiable but it is not going to happen. I think perturbed (perplexed?) professional is only try to put people off attending by asking spurious questions.

What's this? Some lame attempt to scare ordinary decent people for attending the march? Oldest trick in the book.

Not at all, read my first two sentences. I'm simply asking for your opinions, not your theories as to my ulterior motive - which (sorry to disappoint) - is nothing more than idle curiosity on a Friday afternoon.

Is there any precedent of a march organised by as broad a coalition of groups kicking off?
