    I recall Ahearn displaying true republican (US not the lot who blow people up) feelings on Q&A when supporting the introduction of 3rd level fees. His economics are closer to Boston than Berlin and this I suppose is consistent with NAMA rather than European nationalisation of banks prior to debt acquisition.
