The NAMA email - have you received it yet?

Anyone else get this - it's already gone to my "forward message outbox!"

Subject: Some NAMA figures to ponder -please share with other Taxpayers

Analysts reckon the cost of NAMA will be 90 billion Euro

That's a big figure - but how big?

Well - think of €11.57 - that's a more managable figure to grasp: Eleven Euro and Fifty Seven cents.

Now imagine paying €11.57 EVERY SECOND.... that comes to over Forty One and a Half thousand in an hour. Higher than a lot of people's annual salaries. But keep going...

....and at the end of 1 day you'll have paid €1,000,000.

That's One million Euro, in one day. But keep going...

If the government were to pay for NAMA at this rate (1 million per day), how long will it be till Ireland is free of it's NAMA debt? Scroll down to find out

    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

At that rate it will take 248 Years and 7 months to pay for NAMA- roll on April 2258

    Have a nice weekend

What was it that P. T. Barnum said?

"You'll never go broke underestimating people's intelligence."

The figure of 90,000,000,000 comes from the NAMA website as opposed to merely analysists (or course they don't think that it will cost that much, it will be ok, the green shoots will look after us, won't they?)

4.3 How much will this cost the tax payers?
To ensure best value for money for the taxpayer the loans will be transferred to NAMA at an appropriate written down value. The potential book value of loans that will be transferred to NAMA is estimated to be in the region of €80 to €90 billion.

The original email is doing the rounds at worked - was talked about at lunch - at last people seem to be realising what is happening!

Anyone else getting feedback from colleagues/"regular" (ie non politico) folk?
