If you were to index link the taxes they paid over 40 yrs, I doubt very much it would cover the cost of 1 train journey to dublin.

The same can be said for social welfare, it would take the PRSI contributions of some earning 190k a year to cover dole for 9 months for that person if they lost their job. How many people have lost their jobs and havent paid even so much in taxes and prsi during their lives to cover 1 month of dole.

Now is the state to sustain that, when we have a tax burden of 19%

Bruton probably supports the cuts but is playing politics and wants to put the boot in, also Enda likes to be "man of the people" ala Bertie so Bruton is probably under pressure.

Have to agree with that. He was blathering like a banshee with nothing to say. Was he hit by a bus on his way to RTE and suffering concusion? That can be the only possible explanation as to why FG's most competent economic performer did so badly.

I'm waiting for Joan Burton and her muppet leader to say "attacking the vulnerable" and resist all changes, oh yeah - they'll probably say "fair" all the time too.

Learned what a tipstaff was today.
    Apparently they cost €2.5m.

Also 'Graffiti removal operations to be part of Community Service orders'.

Plenty of clever stuff in there.
