35% public sector salary cuts now necessary to improve outlook for private sector

An Bord Snip Nua's report is going to recommend 35% salary cuts across front line services including doctors, nurses, gardai and firefighters to help improve mood among private sector workers.

"I can't believe it took them this long" said one Starbuck's coffee-server, "sales of Frappamochas to newly qualified estate agents have collapsed. It's about time that the gardai at the other side of Harcourt Street took a salary hit because of this, they are not coming in here and buying anything anyway".

The report, which will detail a series of recommendations on how to steer Ireland out of the economic crisis, has been well received among front-line staff in the emergency services. "Quite frankly, I am sick of seeing the high salaries junior doctors make, who work twice my hours in the Mortgage Store", reported a 23 year old mortgage broker, "I've been struggling to move some beautiful town houses in Moate, the gateway to Dublin, for a year now. It's high time that those working 80-90 hours a week did half of that for free".

The report is anticipated to help improve mood and reduce the growing chips on shoulders that are now a frequent occurence among private sector workers.

Yeah, everyone in the private sector is a barrista or a mortgage sales monkey.

Better check your aristo-versus-serf mentality there, Jimmy.

i for one don't want to change or worsen the conditions of front line staff. but i'd wholeheartedly welcome the halving of public expenditure on admin and dept staff.

for those defending 100% of public expenditure saying that every penny spend on public sector wage bills is justified: did you think the bankers earning million euro bonuses offered similar value for money? aren't unsustainable pay levels a relic of 2006/7 and completely out of touch with reality?

We just can't afford our current public sector wage bills. It really is as simple as that.

It is sickening to think that when people are on the dole that there are people sitting all over the country on tea and coffee breaks, some even draw a wage when sick.

Many will not even have to live on the streets when in their old age, these traitors should be driven from our shores. It is now almost impossible to be condesending to them in their place of work now or when looking at them from a large 4x4.

All puclic sector scumbags, expect those working in our fine banks should be punished immediately.
