    Some of the comments from The Times site are interesting.

    "..an indication of China’s reservations about the Russian idea" they want out of the dollar that is why they are buying up real assets and gold. But they dont want to be the last one holding onto the dollar paper. So they talk the dollar up whilst they sell it. Same goes for the pound.

    Yep, and minted in the EU because nobody in Russia or China knows how to mint coins, right?

    Or the European Mints have the best tools for making a nice prop on a stage since they have the newest currency.

    So the Russians, who now want to usurp the Dollar, thought it would be a great idea to have the coin minted in Brussels. Just to keep it all a secret yes?

    Its very Russian, cold war like. Quite retro and not very modern.
    They'll have to do better than this.
    By the way, a one world currency = terrifying.
    Ireland is free for another day.

    I understand very well why we were thought of as 'nutjobs', we talked about the Dollar being deliberately collapsed to bring in a new global currency and now that it's happening you and others like you are spinning it as something normal. A few months ago you would have said something very different.
