Beware of fearful masters
Would this not be just a reserve currency to replace the dollar, not in common circulation? I mean unifying all economies globally to use a single currency is practically impossible at this point, just look at the fun the EU had getting nations compliant with its standards.
Besides which, the Russians do love rattling the cage of the US, something to bear in mind.

why do we have coins at all when they are a well known cause of blacklung for the people who work in them?
should be banned i say.
Fair dues to him. It was a classic.
There is an old game in inter-state relations when you want to play psychological games, usually with a new government - do something to freak out the loo-la brigade in that country. That undermines their support for their government by feeding them something to fuel conspiracy theories, and so weakens the government. Result: you put them on the defensive and they try to calm their nutter brigade down, leaving you in control having scored a psychological hit.
If you want to freak out the Irish, you suggest their leader is being duped by the Brits.
If you want to freak out the Brits or the Americans, suggest their currency is under threat.
If you want to freak out the Chinese, suggest you are gonna make a really big issue of Tibet and human rights.
If you want to freak out Africans, suggest their government is in league with the former colonial power.
As usual, the usual loo-las in the US (and on this site) fell for it hook, line and sinker! All he had to do was flash a dummy coin and suggest it is the design for a supposed world currency that will replace the dollar and bingo, the American right are spitting blood, jamming website, loading their guns and accusing Obama of being a traitor, a commie, etc.
As usual the American far right are too dumb to see that they are being played with in a clever stunt. Their conspiracy theory paranoia has been set off again.
Richelieu, Bismarck, Lloyd George etc were famed for pulling those stunts. It is a standard psychological game. In modern international states the gamje isn't to play with the heads of the leaders but with the heads of their citizens, freaking them out and so undermining their support for their leader.
Machiavelli would have been proud of it.

Politicians always have agendas.
There is a difference between a stunt by a world leader to play with the minds of nutters in another leader's country, and the usual crappy fantasy conspiracy theories produced by Rhonda et al, where hundreds if not thousands of people are engaged in some mass conspiracy and yet amazingly no-one ever reveals it!![]()

Well for everyone else, except Tommy, who seems to have missed it, this is just continueing on from the bric conference of a few weeks ago.
Brazil, Russia, India and China form bloc to challenge US dominance - Times Online
This is the report from just a few days ago by that right wing nut job website called The London Times.
It takes someone special who pretends to be knowledgeable, and still miss the most important meeting so far this millinium with the heads of Russia, China, Brazil, India, Iran and Pakistan meeting to discuss the reserve currency issue.
Poor Tommy, his tin foil cap is covering his eyes and ears but his mouth still is functioning.
He is always good for a laugh
So we can expect to see widespread disassociation by the media and politicians in the EU and US over the coming days against this 'stunt' then???
We can expect to see dramatic headlines like "Russia wants to end dollar domination" or "Russian president wants to undermine the west by bringing in a world currency".
Can't wait to read the papers so.
Btw all the "tin foil hat" accusations are starting to look really ridiculous with the events that have been taking place over the past few months, but it doesn't stop you and your ilk continuing with that approach.
a 'new world currency' and the ever trustworthy russian president is the first to get his hands on it? i'd rather put my trust in roubles! lmao!
