Looks like the government would prefer to fleece us instead of either plan

If you think you're being fleeced now, just imagine you you'll feel if some idiot decides we need to build Nukes.

If the government goes ahead with Grid 25 without major modification, then we are screwed as an economy, end of story.

Where might I find a discussion or detail of this?

I dont think you are getting your nuclear plant !!

Future taxes must focus on pollution rather than employment, says Ryan - The Irish Times - Thu, Jul 30, 2009

Mr Ryan was speaking at the launch of a new report from green energy company BioPower. The report concluded that Ireland could become a leading producer of renewable electricity while significantly expanding job creation. It claimed that more than 80,000 jobs could be created by switching dependence from fossil fuels.

The Minister said such a switch had the potential to save the country up to €6 billion a year on external payments for oil and gas and the money saved could be invested in jobs in the Irish energy sector, while reducing carbon emissions.
Only problem, is that without storage, it cannot be despatched when needed

Mr Ryan said his aim was to create jobs “in the new green economy and instead put the taxes on things that are costly. We should try to save money by using energy more wisely, and I think we can do that. We can start with the autumn budget, as part of a range of initiatives to helping green jobs”.
So energy prices are going up in October, no more power showers or turning on the immersion, TURN OFF THAT LIGHT

    BioPower report

    Potential for green energy jobs:

    Wind 22,000

    Biomass 14,040

    Ocean energy 6,000

    Solar energy 3,500

    Geothermal 1,500

    Micro wind 5,000

    Indirect employment 30,150

    Total 82,190
Great news for all those new gas fired electricity plants waiting for a grid connection, now Grid 25 makes sense and it will only cost you another €4 billion

This energy minister is so good to us, smile very wide, you have been had

    Meanwhile in the real economy

Intel remains the top purchaser of green energy in the United States, according to the latest Green Power ranking by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Renewable energy contributes about 48 percent of the company’s electricity consumed annually.

Of course that is the always available on demand cheap version of renewable energy Mr Ryan
    Regards, Pat Gill
