    Údarás Stopped From Creating Jobs?

Údarás na Gaeltachta are claiming that the Government is preventing it from creating 200 jobs over the next couple of years, due to restrictions that have been placed on them. Restrictions which have already been lifted from Enterprise Ireland and the IDA.
Údarás na Gaeltachta has said Government restrictions have prevented it from providing employment for over 200 people.

It says the restrictions prevent it from signing-off on job creation projects.

The Gaeltacht agency has been prevented from spending money on new projects following a directive issued by the Department of Finance earlier this year.
RTÉ News: Údarás wants spending restrictions lifted

If this is true then it is bloody ridiculous. Every job created is essential in Ireland right now.

Sure we need all the jobs we can get, but no way do I think the Gaeltacht should get preference for English speaking jobs.

Not when they won't find the money for the 10 Irish speaking jobs at Foinse.
I agree with you, a chara. I was hoping that they would be Irish language jobs, but if they are not then they should be passed on to the IDA or Enterprise Ireland and these jobs should be in Ireland.

Many billions in tax revenues annually, and hundreds of thousands of direct and indirect jobs, see FDI for reference.

wait a minute...the OP speaks of 200 jobs and you are claiming they would create "many billions" in tax revenues and "hundreds of thousands" of indirect jobs? Man, if you are serious and really have the insight track into such jobs I am sure governments worldwide would love to hear from you

Sorry, I was responding in a general way to the idea that jobs the government helps create are worthless.

Dios, I'm not against public sector jobs per se, but I 'm not sure giving money to Udaras to create jobs is a wise use of resources

My understanding is that these are not public sector jobs, but sponsored projects, like EI grants and low corporate tax initiatives, although I am open to correction as the article is light on details.
