How to save the Irish Economy, Politics.ie Members WAY!

Well reading various posts on here in regards to Welfare, I have come to the conclusion that the way to save the Irish economy is staring us all in the face!

There are 2 steps we need to take.

We must cut Welfare to at least 50% of its current value.

    WHY?

Because these work shy crowd are living it up BIG TIME, according to various posters on PIE.

The 2nd, and very most important step is to create a new MAXIMUM WAGE for ALL PEOPLE throughout Ireland.

Thats right folks, Doctors, Nurses, IT Specialists, Bankers, TD`s and everyone else should now receive the MAXIMUM WAGE OF €204 per week.

Any Extra salary from Private or public wage funds goes straight to the Government coffers to save Ireland.

Surely nobody can object to such a idea.

After all if €204 per week is way to much for the work shy of Ireland, and they are having a continued 52 week party, then surely €204 per week is more than enough for the rest of us.

So what do you say guys and gals?

    €204 per week for all?

Are you prepared to do your bit to save Ireland?

Another possible source of tax revenue that could be popular with p.ie users is a tax on any complaints about the use of crass obscenity especially when it relates to the sexuality and genitalia of women. Sure we'd be a grand wee free swearing country then.

Why hasn't anyone thought of that before?

So let me get this straight. You are proposing we all take pay cuts and give the remainder of the money to the GOVERNMENT? The people who got us into this mess in the first place?!!! Dream on boyo....

Wouldn't a max wage of €204 cause mass defaults on mortgages and loans? They'd be 1000 times the bad loans. Easily.

    What then?

If we made the bank bondholder take their share of the bank losses we would be in a much stronger position

    Bluefish,

Your suggestions are unrealistic given the facts people who have taken on the mortgage which is a legal binding contract.

It will cause huge impairments on bank assets side as they would default or close it down.

I really agree with a National Maximum wage, I think its a very good idea. But I'd say a realistic figure would be 100,000 a year. There is no need or justification for anyone to ever earn more than that.
