This of course is a virtual counter and the figure is not increasing by the second as shown. Real life is in fact more alarming. The debt increases for the future 3 times each month in big jumps. Twice monthly when short term borrowing and once monthly for long term.

Yesterday was a 2 billion euro increase in debt.

I have canvassed some who wish to address reality to join me in getting our heads together if anyone wishs to pm.

And you will have people on saying we must maintain spending by raising taxes and borrowing money...dont listen to these people because they are mad. We will find out next year if this is really possible as agencies downgrade us more and those interest rates on bonds shot up ever so slightly each time.

We need to kill the patient and start over, not on this drip by drip life support for another 15 years
Believe me the way things are going, we'll have class sizes at 35, rats running through our hospitals no money spent on infrastructure, dole at levels that will force another generation of irish workers out of the country, university fees etc.

yes a couple of garda, teachers and nurses will go, even the odd quango but what will remain of our public service will be just overpaid servants themselves. Bord snip gives that impression to me anyway

To borrow Shane McGowan's line in A rainy night on Soho this clock is in a way a measure of our dreams. Bad dreams.

FF will fudge any spending cuts, they will not tackle the problem. Clowen and lenny make a fortune and eat lots of nice dinners and drink lots of nice wine, thats all they care about. Harney eats lots of dinners also.

    Bertie Ahern Taoiseach 1997-2008

"I mean quite frankly, if you had taken the advice a year ago you would have lost a lot of money. Everybody said we're going to see a huge downturn in 2005 linking into 2006 - they were entirely wrong.

    In
April 2007 he said: "On the other side of the election we'll get back to normality. And I think that normality will be the soft landing. The construction projections were that we will move from something like 93,000 houses to 80-something. Now that's not going to create any kind of a difficulty."

    In
July 2007 he said: "Sitting on the sidelines, cribbing and moaning is a lost opportunity. I don't know how people who engage in that don't commit suicide because frankly the only thing that motivates me is being able to actively change something."

    In
September 2007 he said: "But there is no place for negativity. No need for any pessimism. Above all, there is no place for politically motivated attempts to talk down the economy and the achievements of our people across all sectors."

    Today:

    Say it ain't so.
It is a Shoeless Joe Jackson moment.

Next Thursday week it will jump about 2.5 billion in real life and July 27 another 1.5 billion.

Then they pay back some and on again

    It's a close indication alright

I think we need more bad news. Have a look here: NTMA - Government Bonds - Bonds Outstanding

Outstanding bonds to be paid back.

    2011 4.3 billion
    2012 4.6 Billion
    2013 6 billion
    2014 6.6 billion
    2016 6.4 billion
    2018 6.7 billion
    2019 7.7 billion
    2019 6 billion
    2020 7.9 billion

To still be a Fianna Fail supporter/member, bow your head in shame. You are a disgrace to our nation, you do not deserve to lead this country. Your influence in Irish Politics will soon fall, your actions and decisions the past decades will and have destroyed generations of Irish. When do we stand up and say no more?
