Cowen determined to sacrifice economy for Lisbon

The political reporter (Ursula Halligan?) on TV3 news at 5.30 reported that Cowen is determined to sit on the report of Bord Snip Nua report until after the Lisbon Treaty referendum thereby turning a meltdown into a catastrophe.

She reported divisions in cabinet over the cuts too (e.g. strange noises from idiot Hanafin), which suggests the government will walk after Lisbon or will fail to agree appropriate cuts. At that stage, the IMF will come in and we'll be ruled from Berlin anyway, via Enda!

She also sayed Europe would be in crisis if Lisbon wasn't passed!!

This is treachery of a most cynical sort.

Crisis, what crisis eh!

As has been observed on this site so often.
That individual doesn't have the courage, decency or integrity to lay it on the line to the people of Ireland.
Take note of this, and the contempt he shows the electorate.
We are at the start of a devestating economic crisis and this is the best leadership that he can muster.
A fair weather politician of the most mediocre kind.

Its only a chat, we ain't the world council.
In 2000 the Women's Institute in Britain gave Tony Blair the slow hand clap to demonstrate their contempt.
It was dignified, restrained and effective.Doesn't Bertie deserve the same scorn. No shouting, no abuse, no agression just a relentless slow clap whenever he speaks in public would be enough to end that man's presidential fantasy.

If you had to post an image from The Wicker Man why didn't you opt for Britt?

Maybe he's hoping they'll change tactics when we vote no again - instead of more bullying they might slip us a bung for the third shot

Lisbon III - This time it's FISCAL

The only way Lisbon has any chance of getting passed is if there is a general election on the same day.

If instead of tying his credibility to a yes vote he gave a legally binding guarantee () that he would resign if it passed, he would deal a terrible vote to the NO side.
