Across the board cuts in all Social Welfare payments, a cut in the rate of Child Benefit rather than taxing or means testing, cuts in Rent supplement are among the Social Welfare proposals. The merging of a range of State housing agencies. A cut of 500-1000 in Defence force personnel. And two government departments should be 'reviewed' are all among the proposals. The article suggests that the government is divided on whether or not to publish the proposals.
