In ten years Sarah - office worker, married, part mortgage holder, with 2.5 kids- will smile knowingly at the latest batch of young girls tottering naively out of college, cluching their Arts/Social degrees, whining about socialism, feminism, jazz and modern art.

And I don't have an arts or social science degree - it's in finance, which is about as far away from "postmodern twaddle" as you can get.
The element of property that involves theft is the land component.
Here's what could be done to mitigate against this:
(a) Property is priced at the cost of its build (excluding land)
(b) You pay a yearly tax on the land you assume possession of (calculated from size of plot, location, public services, amenities, gentrification etc.)
(c) Note that this is a land tax, not a property tax.

Note that I think the objections he raises might be easily overcome through modern technologies such as GIS systems (developed from the records existing at the land registry office).
