KN had it right early yesterday

have the key conclusion of the IMF.

IMF: 'The government has been the greatest disaster on the economy possible'.

    Government Press Release.

Spin Dr: The IMF says that 'the government has been......great......on the economy'.

I don't listen to Mr. Cooper, but he is fast gaining my sympathy.
Ms. White was on him a couple of days ago.
Mr. Lenihan is on him now.
Mr. Cooper seems to be taking it from all angles and directions.
The poor man must be exhausted.
They should all 'lay' off him already!

These Ministers vote themselves huge salaries that are fixed so high because, they say, of the high responsibility they must bear.

They then proceed to accept the salary, but not the responsibility.

    Funny that.

I can't help but remember the comedy "yes minister" when the minister asked worrying to his advisor whether he'll be held accountable for his mistake, his advisor responded:

"The reason we change the cabinet so often, is so that nobody is ever accountible for anything"

But if they don't get the massive salaries that would leave them open to bribery and back-handers - I think this was possibly FF's best joke on the rest of us

    What Minister has said that?

The pay of Ministers is linked to grades in the Public Sector. Pay in the public sector is determined by an independent body.

Remind me who is on the independent body, and how they are put there.

... which, in turn, is directly linked to the mess we're in now!
