Aye....so in one guise..i.e as NAMA..we're screwed...cos they/we should not have to cover 100%...and in the other guise as tax payers we will have to put up the extra money.....therefore we're screwed....

I was out with a Mexican bird last night, she gave me a long list of place to see where. Will be no Brits or yanks in any of the places either.

ergo Nationalisation is mandatory for fairness.

NAMA will destroy us. When we find out the discount % then people are going to demand the same to their mortgages, which will create more havoc.

Nationalisation would mean control- at the moment we seem to have a weaselly situation whereby the banks 'nominally' hand over control but in fact are still pulling the strings behind the scenes.

Nationalisation would mean an opportunity to clear out the staff- starting with anybody senior with 'risk management' in their job description. At least if the trade winds change we won't have ended up assuming incredible debts and getting a paltry sum back in comparison when eventually re-privatising them.

It would also be good to let the CAB and Fraud Squad check back over the documents declaring what the banks were worth in 2005,2006 and 2007 because as we now know the reports and accounts for those years for Anglo-Irish were FRAUDULENT.

Ignored. Indeed derided by the government.

Have a bit already, I'll be drunk all the time anyway and seem to communicate fine when tanked up. Unlike Clowen.

I spent quite a bit of time in Mexico a few years back. Be very careful about backpacking on the cheap there. Crime wise its a nightmare and thats just the police.

I don't know about Mexico City as I haven't been there for 10 years but up to seven or eight years ago they were having a resurgence in cop/crook collusion to rip off tourists, especially around those Volkswagon Beetle taxis they have here.

Lovely country, unfortunate people, quite dangerous at times for foreign backpackers.
