    the paycuts are a comin'

back to reality where the safety of a CS/PS job means that you get paid 25% less than a similar private sector job

Do you have a link or are you just guessing?

On what basis do you value job security at 25% of the equivalent private sector job?

Benchmarking may have been an incredibly expensive way to do it - costing the economy €1bn+ every year and counting - but it did establish a principle in public sector wages in Ireland. That principle is that trends in public sector wages must mirror those in the private sector. It’s incredibly cheeky of those happy to have the principle applied in the good times to argue that they shouldn’t have to ‘bear the brunt’ of having the same principle applied in the bad times.

Mr. Lyons strangely omits these simple facts when arriving at this spun out populist conclusions.

It appears they don’t seem to bother you either.

Benchmarking is no longer an issue, it has been effectively reversed.

And what job security is he talking about? According to him redundancies and job losses in the PS/CS are on the way.

Oh I hope it IS Deathknell or we'll have (at least) two of them with a vendetta against the PS running around...

There's a few more than two with multiple accounts just for good measure.

Kevin, public pay is an issue when we can't afford to pay it.
