10%? That is one big contraction. A lot of pain on the way. Plus a further 1.5% next year.

Is anyone discussing low corporate taxes and the relationship to the empty public coffers these days????

Well, I guess that means somewhere to emigrate to. Good news, then! Provided they bite the bullet of welfare differentials, I guess.

Usually fairly good Odie. The World Bank released a similar study on Monday ( or maybe it was last Friday) and while it concentrated on the effects of the global recession on developing nations, it drew similar conclusions to the OECD.

Emigration likely to become the only option for many. Let's hope the world has a kinder outlook than many of the Irish!

Do you think we're numerous enough or homogeneous enough as a group to attract attention?

That 1.5% contraction next year looks amazingly optimistic.

    Wendy,

when work and money is in short supply, anything is possible.

Forget the US though: if you have no papers, have a history of travel there, you will have bother.

    Cael, maybe.
However preceeded by a 10% contraction, it is not that unusual.
