And if the recession is going to be decades long, with every sign of relying on war for its end ?

The recession is going to be decades long if, and only if, the governments of this world interfere with the recovery on a major scale. It takes a lot of effort to turn a sharp slump into 10 years of misery.

    EXACTLY!

And the whole point of why I think we should steer clear of you is that we all have already clarified to ourselves that abolishing those existing institutions is out of the question.

By "we all", I mean: Christian Democrats, Fascists, social democrats, conservatives, moderate proponents of Sharia law, pro-EU membership, anti-EU membership, Gaullists, pro-immigrationists, anti-immigrationists, socialists, greens, US Democrats and Republicans, eastern european liberals, Hindu nationalists, communists.

If you do not fall into one of those groups, then maybe there is space for you to agree with 20000miles.

If you do, then his basic agenda and yours cannot be reconciled.

He basically wants to eliminate most forms of bank lending that exist up to now. All of the groups above have considered this option with care, and rejected it.

Do you really think they all have it so wrong? If not, what's the point of discussing stuff with 2000miles. If he convinces you, what do you do then? You certainly won't be winning many converts among the folk who agree with you on other issues, and you will lose influence even when you talk about things where you aren't wrong.
When you see the words "Mises" or "Hayek" in someone's post, just ask yourself: do I really want to ban paper money and go back to gold?

You have to pity the kind of people who buy into conspiracy theories. I find the following to be the saddest words on the internet: "Re: connection between Bilderberg puppet lady gaga and viral outbreak in ukraine "

By "we all", you mean "those who worship the State"...

Will someone explain to me why it is still called the Austrian School when all the up and coming events seem to be in Alabama ?

The Mises Instiute is only of many in the world.

Of course, before it was branded "Austrian economics", it was amore commonly known as "economics".
