Going back to my point: that's about all there is for low-hanging easy-to-implement opportunities. Everything else is the hard, hard slog. The robber baron era existed because of a wide, highly varied, extremely multifaceted panoply of opportunities for profit.
We've got cheap wind. So no, this will not be a new robber baron era.
When you see the words "Mises" or "Hayek" in someone's post, just ask yourself: do I really want to ban paper money and go back to gold?
You have to pity the kind of people who buy into conspiracy theories. I find the following to be the saddest words on the internet: "Re: connection between Bilderberg puppet lady gaga and viral outbreak in ukraine "
But the cheap energy and export of same can help with the hard slog, and there must be more ideas, come on lads and lassies, we have to do this ourselves.
What other kind of businesses can we export?
Can we use our "knowledge" based economy to export knowledge based IT solutions world-wide? Where are the bedroom nerds when you need them, eh?
There are ample opportunities but I want to see if anyone has a clue!... People are more inclined to whinge about our failure than to look forward beyond the mess to a positive set of goals. This is the only way we can ever hope to achieve prosperity again. Finding our goals and the rest, with a lot of work, should fall into place.
Where are the brains on this site?
Regarding wind turbines and planning issues would planning be required for off shore wind farms? I believe the Dutch have built a massive artificial island loaded with turbines is this not an option? I accept this is probably a more expensive alternative.
Yes it is but properly handled onshore is do able besides wind is only one part of the S of I proposal. Energy harvesting in general is future but the infrastructure must be put in place first and that is where we at now. Have real look at the site, including the forum.

I cant believe that nobody in Ireland has any bright ideas at all
