abolishing days off is in effect a pay cut - and the workers involved are damned right to resist.

the right-wing hacks on here who constantly engage in public service bashing are little whingers who are sulking because daddy's silver spoon has disappeared and they want ordinary workers to carry the can for their own ineptitude.

The opening gambit in removing privilege days and bank time was reported in the Irish Times last Saturday. Also mooted was a redeployment arrangement across the Civil Service to include quangos.

Regarding the redeployment issue, the HSE recently removed the early retirement, career break, and shorter working year because of union resistance to redeployment. Great start altogether. I wonder how those who opted for one of the schemes to save the taxpayer feels about that kind of intransigence.

I'd be open to possible changes to Bank time as part of a wider ranging process...

I'm informing you of the up to date positions of the talks...

Finance kicked it off making these arbitrary demands that they know the unions won't accept in a month of Sundays... If we can get them to approach the talks in a mutually respectful manner I'm sure the CPSU won't be found wanting in exploring ways to satisfy all parties...
