Maybe some of you nutjobs can tell us the outcome of your last campaign to email the Commission re. what the Government was doing?

Remember, you were claiming that the Local Authority Home Equity Scheme breached State Aid rules?

When is it up before the ECJ?

    Good shot sir.

I would like to raise your awareness of a very important matter which affects every man, woman and child in Ireland. This is the proposal by the Irish government to continue supporting Anglo-Irish bank with €4 billion euro, despite an ongoing police investigation into the workings of the bank, and the many question marks which stand over the property related investments which make up the majority of the loans.

I would like to express my deep concerns over not just ongoing support for this bank but the behaviour of the Irish government in its dealings with this bank, and I would urge you in the strongest possible terms to reconsider lending any assistance to them in any way without an in-depth audit of every aspect of this affair.

    Yours faithfully

No. Not yet. I doubt you'd get a personalised reply but you'd think they'd give some sort of automated confirmation of receipt. I stumbled across this interesting article on the Dept. of Finance website in relation to the Government's notification to the EC last January:

In the view of the Irish Government, this change of ownership is consistent with EU state aid law. The Irish authorities have nevertheless notified the change of ownership of Anglo Irish Bank to the European Commission for the purposes of legal certainty.

At this stage, the Irish Government does not believe that further support measures are necessary for Anglo Irish Bank

I wonder is the timing of this interesting? I.e. the deal to protect the child abusers was made at the last minute by an outgoing FF government....
