Government policy for the past decade re- property construction & taxation has been nothing more than a colossal game of Buckaroo !
and taxes for landlords should be high & mighty to stop a repeat of this.
But there should be no additional taxes for owner-occupiers.

State control of the rental-industry, with high taxes for landlords, is needed.
The spread of the system of concentrated mass-property ownership among a minority, pushed up prices for residential buyers ( who are now in negative equity )copperfastened a two-tier society in the country that did not exist before, was a strong pull-factor in inward immigration above all numerical reasoning (and existing jobs) and was the means through which the country was sunk.
Despite price-collapse, etc., all Government efforts to date have been designed to erect a scaffold around the speculate-to-let bank/developer pyramid scheme, which they dream of resuming in the not-too-distant future.

it is far too late to start with that kind of thing. the notion that all landlords are rich evil batsards is ridiculous. lots of people became landlords as a way of providing pensions for their old age and they were actively encouraged by banks and govt policy to do so.. most are now trapped and subsidising the rents their tenants are paying in order to keep on top of their mortgages. i can also guarantee you that most , like myself would happily cease being landlords tomorrow even if it meant selling up a loss. even that however is not an option.
