Jacobs leave Ireland after over 150 years.

Production ceased today at the last Jacobs plant in Tallaght. They began in Waterford in the mid-Nineteenth Century, and produce famous brands like Mikado, Kimberleys, and Cream Crackers. The Jacobs factory in Bishop Street was, of course, one of the main centres of the Rising in Dublin in 1916 (it's now the National Archives). 3,000 women went on strike there in 1911 in support of a pay claim. 220 jobs will be lost.

Sad to see the departure of a company that is so steeped in Irish history.

The workers have said they are not going to reveal how they get the figs into the fig rolls. Blindly loyal stupidity, I say. They could make a fortune.....cookie.

We all love animals. Why do we call some 'pets' and others 'dinner'?
