Antidote to the FF "nobody saw this coming" mantra...

FF have been playing this tune for a long time. The argument is that the international economy fell off a cliff, taking us with it. This, they say, was unforseen and perhaps unforseeable.

I do believe I have read a similar blog which predicts the end of the world in two years time. Do you think we should accept this at face value?

Fianna Fail never like to take personal responsibility when things go wrong, they'll get hammered in the local elections but I'm sure by 2012 when the public has its five yearly injection of alzheimers they'll still remain the largest party in the Dail, why do people vote for these eejits, oh silly me civil war politics still rules supreme.

    Yes, if it
    a) was in a world leading newspaper and
    b) reported a load of FACTS such as this one.

Did you bother to read the links at all or just open your fingers and bypass the brain?

Here lads have a gander at Hans Rosling's take on this nonsense
    http://www.gapminder.org/videos/swin...-tuberculosis/
A champion of the people emerges with the age-old and appealing promise of "something for nothing" - to be financed through every-increasing taxes. Supply and demand are thrown out of gear - the overhead goes up; the effective use of human energy goes down; the standard of living is lowered because money cannot buy wealth that is not produced.

No, just the home made one.
If engineers were wrong as often as economists, would anyone fly aeroplanes?
