No eyes moving down and right for downright lies then?
When I saw him on Prime Time last he was on, he seemed very dismissive of valid questions ( as though an explanation would take too long and go over the panels heads ). That annoyed me. Why go on the show?
This is the Brit buffoon that we have entrusted our lives with. he wouldnt be the first.
We might as well clone Oliver Cromwell. At least we knew where we stood with him.
Bacon is a bluffer and he's gone to Vegas and staked the whole lot on a game of blackjack.
NO TO IMF/EU FEUDALISM
I am no expert, but I thought Dr. Bacon was telling porkies. His points were made irrelevant but the other panel members. He needed a member of Fianna Fail beside him to wade in with a "just shut up and accept it" comment, or even better "how dare you question NAMA".
rte are certainly putting him on a pedestal

In fact, that would have been his earlier performance on PT. He basically said that he had decided that nationalisation of the banks was not a good idea. Who elected him....?
I fully understand the need to put someone who really knows his/her stuff in a Tzar-like role, but that person then needs to get us on board. if they believe in what they are doing they will be able to defend and evangelise this. Failure by a bright, articulate individual to explain this only proves that it's a reckless "Hail Mary" pass.
http://www.ft.com/cms/s/aed2ae60-1c9...print=yes.htmlPeter Bacon, an Irish economist and former board member of Ballymore Properties, one of the property developers now in the spotlight, has been advising Mr Lenihan on a possible bad bank.
Nationwide sites to draw interest: ThePost.ieproperties valued at stg£71.6 million (€108 million) in 2005 - up from stg£35 million the previous year. It recorded losses of stg£9 million for 2005 while it was developing the properties, ‘‘pending the generation of revenues’’.
Irish Nationwide owns 51 per cent of Clearstorm; Ballymore holds the remainder of the company, which owns property in the east end of London. Economist Peter Bacon, a senior Ballymore executive, was appointed a director of Clearstorm just before Christmas.
'Rasher' returns - Irish, Business - Independent.ieAlthough Bacon was bitterly disappointed by the Government's rejection of his proposals [on property] he was careful not to show it at the time. Close to former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, his economic consultancy, Peter Bacon & Associates, picked up a steady stream of public contracts even after the Government's change of tack on housing policy.
'No conflict of interest’, says bad-banks adviser - Times Online
Just to put into context Mr.Bacons history
Iarmhi Gael, I watched the discussion twice. Once on tv and once online afterwards. I was taken aback by the stuttering the first time. The second time it seriously did cross my mind that he had a few drinks taken, and wasn't thinking clearly. Perhaps a glass of wine or two too many in a pre-show dinner?
I wasn't going to say anything as it would sound silly but since you started this thread and seem to know about body signs I thought I'd throw it out to you as a possibility. He was certainly very unconvincing and didn't exhibit confidence.
We all love animals. Why do we call some 'pets' and others 'dinner'?
Could certainly be the case. I was very taken aback by whole his body language. He did show some positives signs when he did talk early on, but his whole demeanour was of someone uneasy with himself.

He was trying to defend the indefensible - trying to maintain that the answer is to try and fix the banks. This begins with a premise that they should not be allowed to fail - false start already.
The banks are broke(n) and should be allowed to go bust; we should not be maintaining wealth in the hands of those who proved their inability to manage it productively for the benefit of society as a whole - do not let this opportunity to redistribute wealth and reinvigourate our sense of communitarianism; At the very at least a fairer society should develop from the near failure of capitalism.... bacon can be last of a dying breed.... allowed to influence our leaders to our detriment...
